Making an Automation

Make your Home a little bit more attractive and add some more accessories. For example start with two Dali or Philips Hue lights. One for the living room and one as a bedside lamp.

When adding the lights, you will see an interesting dialog, as presented in the image below.

HomeKit light automation

The Home app presents a dialog to 'Turn On the Light when I arrive home' and 'Turn it Off when I leave'. Great idea for the Ceiling light in the living room. You could choose both.

This is an example of an automation, using your phone to decide whether you are home or not.

There are different types of automations:

  • People Arrive
  • People Leave
  • A Time of Day Occurs
  • An Accessory is Controlled
  • A Sensor Detects Something

These automations are really handy too in scenes.

  2. in the upper-left corner. If you have multiple homes, choose a home, then select Home Settings.
